Worry Train-All aboard

As we leave our children at the various colleges and universities this month many of us feel worried and some of us excessively worried. These feelings can apply to all of our children no matter the age,but feels magnified when dropping a child off for their first year.

For me, I worry about their safety! I pretty much worry about every possible safety issue!

I worry about their choices. I know we all make/made mistakes and that’s okay because that’s how we learn. But gosh, the possibility of bad choices scare me!

I could go on a looong ride on the Worry Train but I’m going to pull the stop cord and get off.

I need to trust my children. But most of all I need to trust God.

My friend just dropped her daughter off and this was in the parent news letter,

“When you release loved ones to Me, you are free to cling to My hand. As you entrust others into My care, I am free to shower blessings on them. My Presence will go with them wherever they go, and I will give them rest. This same Presence stays with you, as you relax and place your trust in Me. Watch to see what I will do.” Daily devotional from Jesus Calling.

Bad things happen in the world all the time. No amount of my worry will change that. The only purpose my worry serves is to rob me of my life’s enjoyment.

I will continue to encourage good choices, be supportive when things go wrong and prayerful that they are protected through rough times.

As I climb down the Worry Train steps, He is waiting there for me to hand him my baggage. Thank You!

Matthew 11:28

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
